We have published the list of Xiaomi smartphones that should receive the Android 15 update. This list is based on Xiaomi’s update policy, with a few Redmi and POCO smartphones that fall outside this policy and have a lot of users.

According to Xiaomi’s EOS list, a Redmi or POCO smartphone introduced with Android 12 can receive 2 new Android updates.

But there is the problem that the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G, POCO M5 / Redmi 11 Prime, POCO X5 5G smartphones, which are our subject and deserve the Android 5G update, end up with Android 13 and Android 14.

At the launch date of the above smartphones, October 2022, the Android 13 version was already out. Since Xiaomi introduced these smartphones with Android 12, the 1-year update life of these smartphones has been reduced. Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G was introduced with Android 11, although it is from the Redmi Note 12 family.

Since the user base of the above smartphones is quite large, there is a discussion in the comments of our website and in the Telegram channel why these smartphones will not receive the Android 15 update.

As users, one of the main features we want our smartphone to have a very long life. Now, with the development of technology, even entry-level smartphones can be used for many years. By buying new smartphones every year, we both increase unnecessary consumption in the world and damage nature by wasting nature’s resources.

For example, the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G uses the Snapdragon 732G processor. The first device to use the Snapdragon 730 processor, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, was introduced in 2019. 5 years later, if this smartphone’s processor is still in use, it deserves a new update.

Users are asking Xiaomi to extend the update life of these smartphones for at least 1 more year.
